What Wirly is

Wirly is an independent mortgage refinance education and comparison platform. We help homeowners answer the question “Should I refinance?” with real math, not sales copy.

Our calculators, rate dashboards, and lender comparisons are designed to give you the information you need to make an informed decision before you ever talk to a lender.

Our mission

Most mortgage content online is written by lenders or affiliates trying to generate leads. Wirly takes a different approach: we lead with free tools powered by government data, and we explain our methodology openly.

We believe that homeowners deserve transparent, accurate information about their refinancing options. Every calculator on this site uses publicly available data, and every number can be verified.

Our data sources

Wirly relies on authoritative, free, publicly available government data:

  • Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) for daily and weekly mortgage rate data, including 30-year fixed, 15-year fixed, and 5/1 ARM rates
  • Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey (PMMS) for weekly national average rate benchmarks dating back to 1971
  • Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) for aggregate lending data by lender, including approval rates and loan volumes

All data sources are documented in our codebase and attributed on every page where they appear.

Editorial independence

No lender pays for placement in our calculators or rankings. Calculator math is independent of any business relationship. Our lender rankings are based on publicly available data and editorial evaluation, not advertising spend.

Wirly may earn referral fees when users click through to lender partners. This compensation never affects our calculator results, editorial content, or ranking methodology. For full details, see how we make money.

Our team

Our team researches and fact-checks every guide, calculator, and data point on the site. Content is reviewed against government data sources before publication and updated on a regular schedule. See our editorial guidelines for details on how content is created and maintained.
