How content is created

Wirly content is drafted using a combination of AI-assisted writing tools and human editorial review. Every piece of content goes through the following process:

  1. Research: Data is gathered from government sources (FRED, Freddie Mac PMMS, HMDA) and publicly available lender information
  2. Drafting: Initial content is created with AI assistance, structured around verified data points
  3. Fact-checking: Every claim, statistic, and rate figure is verified against the original government data source
  4. Review: Content is reviewed for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with YMYL (Your Money Your Life) standards
  5. Publication: Content is published with source attribution and a last-updated date

Sources policy

All mortgage rate data displayed on Wirly comes from the Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) system, which sources its mortgage data from the Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey (PMMS).

Lender information is based on publicly available data including HMDA lending reports, published rate sheets, and official lender websites. We do not use unverified third-party aggregator data.

When specific figures are cited (rates, credit score minimums, fee ranges), the source is attributed on the page where the data appears.

Update schedule

  • Rate data: Updated daily from FRED API (weekdays, with a one-day lag from the Federal Reserve)
  • Lender profiles: Reviewed quarterly for accuracy of credit requirements, loan types, and feature descriptions
  • Educational guides: Reviewed quarterly and updated when regulations, market conditions, or best practices change
  • Calculator logic: Reviewed when standard amortization formulas or industry conventions change

Corrections policy

If we identify an error in published content, we correct it promptly and note the correction on the page with the date it was made. If the error affected a calculator or data display, we review the underlying logic to prevent recurrence.

If you believe something on Wirly is inaccurate, please contact us at our contact page. We investigate all reported errors.
